Here is an article about corruption in American police departments written by famous ex-cop whistleblower and activist Frank Serpico. Read it and post your thoughts and opinions on the issues of police corruption and brutality!
For those of you too lazy to read that article, Serpico revisits the events that led to him being shot in the head by a criminal and then callously left to die by his two dirty backup officers present at the scene. Serpico tells of his experiences with police corruption in NYC, and asserts that the problem has become a nationwide problem since then as Police Departments are increasingly violent and not held accountable for their actions as a result of an "us vs. them" mentality on the part of the boys in blue. He also alludes to the iniquity in police dealings with different socioeconomic classes of people, District Attorneys' inability to punish police actions, and the pressure on good cops not to snitch on crooked ones.
