this is the story of how my pumpkin, elmer, came to be.
my mom has just gotten home. it was around 4:30 or so. she told me she had bought a pumpkin upon my request. she called me pathetic for getting excited about carving pumpkins. i didn't care. i jumped up from my chair. there he was. on the kitchen table. a perfectly round, carve worthy pumpkin. i grabbed a marker and began to draw a face on him. my knife pierced the skin. i began to scoop out his insides. i was excited to roast his seeds and eat them. when i was finished, i carved out his face. i accidentally ripped off one of his teeth, but i still finished. when i was done, he was perfect. he was unlike any pumpkin i had ever seen before. i needed to document this moment. i needed to name him. elmer. it was perfect. he was perfect. elmer the pumpkin
